We know, we know — we’ve been desperately waiting for more new media on April’s South Africa-themed FIFA release as well, and today we’ve finally got some more. Arriving care of GDC 2010, EA Sports released the trailer you see above and the smattering of new screens seen below (for Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 as well as the Wii).

The trailer urges players to take their own country’s team to the World Cup, though we should issue a word of warning to those of you in the contiguous United States who choose to bring our fine nation to the top: it’s just a game. Okay, okay, sorry — we were just joshin’ ya! We suppose it’s possible. Maybe after the robots take over. Maybe.

Codemasters hits the track this September with F1 2010 for PC, Xbox 360 & PS3

[IF1 2009; Wii]

Having dominated the rally track with DiRT and DiRT 2, and taken a lap around the street-racing arena with GRiD, Codemasters has announced it’s now tossing its hat into the Formula One ring with F1 2010. Yeah, we kind of expected some weird capitalization, too. It’ll run on Codemaster’s EGO Game Technology Platform engine, so at least we know it’ll have that in common with its predecessors.

This new title will release on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC this September, the press release states. F1 2010 will be the official game of the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship, containing “all of the official teams, drivers and circuits from the coming season.” There will be a career mode, along with championship, grand prix and time trial modes to keep you busy putting rubber to asphalt.

Look for F1 2010 this September on Games For Windows Live, Xbox 360 and PS3.

If you use Windows Home Server to backup the machines on your network, your in luck if you accidentally delete important files or they become corrupted. Today we take a look at getting your data back from backups on your home server.

Open Windows Home Server Console and click select the Computers and Backup tab. Right-click on the computer you need to restore files for and select View Backups.

This will open a list of your recent backups. Highlight the one you want to open, then click the Open button in the Restore or View Files section.

2rest

If this is the first time you’re restoring a file, you’ll be asked to verify installation of the device software. Check the box next to Always trust software from Microsoft Corporation and click Install.

4rest

Now wait while the backup data is retrieved.

5 rest

After the backup data has been retrieved, an explorer windows opens up to drive (Z:) which is the backup data. It’s just like if you were opening a drive on your local machine. Now you can browse through the backup and find the files your missing. You can open the files directly, or drag them onto your machine to the location you want to restore them.

6rest?

Restoring your data is actually a very easy process with Windows Home Server. Of course you’ll want to make sure the computers on your network are being backed up to WHS. if you need help with that, check out our article on how to configure your computer to backup to WHS. If you want to backup your home server shares, check out our article on how to backup WHS folder to an external drive.

Xbox Live Deal of the Week: World at War Map Pack for $20

If you’re still knee-deep in the Pacific Theater in Call of Duty: World at War, odds are you’ve at least heard about the various map packs out there by now. Major Nelson reports that Microsoft has cut the price on the CoD: WaW Map Pack – a bundle of the three DLC map packs previously released for the game, available for 1600 this week.

Each map pack is available on its own for 800, though the bundle usually offers a discount by lumping all three DLC packs together for 2000. So, with this weekly deal, getting all three map packs together will save you $10 total over the cost of buying them all individually — or $5 over the usual cost of the bundle. However, there’s a good chance that everyone who owns an Xbox 360 already has these maps, so check your hard drive before enlisting for duty!

Codemasters’ new FPS, Bodycount, announced briefly

8

Codemasters’ new FPS from Black creator Stuart Black has been revealed by OXM UK — and then promptly unrevealed, when the article was taken down. Bodycount is not based on Ice-T’s metal band Body Count, because the world couldn’t possibly be that beautiful. However, the cover of OXM (accessed through a Google cache of the article) calls it “the ultimate shooter.” Since there won’t be any shooters after this one, we assume that means it’s really cool.

We’ll find out more this week as the magazine arrives in UK homes, and presumably when an announcement is put online for good. Given the venue of announcement, we at least know it is an Xbox 360 game.
