Xbox Live Marketplace Feb. schedule includes $10 Battlefield 1943
Feb/100
Major Nelson has a dropped a partial February schedule for Xbox Live Marketplace content, including a particularly nice Deal of the Week. Specifically, next week’s deal, beginning February 15, will be Battlefield 1943 for only 800
($10). If you’ve yet to pick up the game, $10 is definitely a good price. Also dropping next week, both Resident Evil 5 and Beautiful Katamari will arrive on Games on Demand.
The post also notes that this week marks the end of the second season of 1 vs 100. Tonight’s episode (9:00pm ET/6:00 pm PT) will feature Magda Apanowicz from SyFy’s series Caprica. For the season finale this Friday (10:00pm ET/7:00 pm PT), the game will feature 343 Industries‘ Frank O’Connor and Bungie’s Marty O’Donnell.
See the full XBLM schedule after the break.

Xbox Live deals of the week: Turtles, Tiger and Marvel vs. Capcom
Feb/100
We’re guessing that the person at Microsoft whose job it is to choose the discounted XBLA games of the week is a huge New Orleans Saints fan. Filled with the overwhelming spirit of victory from last night’s engagement, this person couldn’t stop him or herself from repeatedly hitting the price reduction button. We’re afraid of what might have happened if they were a diehard Colts fan. Can XBLA prices be increased?
Fortunately, things panned out in our favor. During the discounting spree, three titles got their prices reduced: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is now 800
($10, down from 1200
), TMNT: Turtles in Time Reshelled is 400
($5, down from 800
) and Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao is available for 800
($10, down from 1200
). Basically, if you’ve got an itch to watch ninjas or superheroes beat the snot out of things, Xbox Live has you covered for the next seven days.

Reminder: ‘Splosion Man is $5 this week
Feb/100
We told you last week, but with a certain something likely taking up every ounce of delicious brain juice you’ve got right now, we felt it prudent to put out a reminder. ‘Splosion Man, Twisted Pixel’s game of splodey splendor, is 50 percent off this week on Xbox Live, bringing it down to a very reasonable 400
price tag. If you haven’t bothered to check it out yet — it is one of 2009’s best games, y’know — then there’s really no excuse now.

Final Fantasy XIII ‘bus tour’ has playable demos in San Fran this week
Jan/100
Square Enix is showing off Final Fantasy XIII this week around the San Francisco and Bay area, using an environmentally friendly, Chocobo-drawn tour bus as a base of operations — not really, but that sounds amazing. Beginning tomorrow, January 13, through January 16, a bus will tour the area with playable demos. Those interested in getting some hands-on time with the game can stalk the operation through its @PlayFFXIII Twitter account. The bus features a “never-before-seen demo” of FFXIII.
For those of us not in the Bay Area, we hope to get a playable demo before the game’s March 9 release.

Deal of the Week: Kingdom for Keflings for $5
Jan/100
While the Xbox Live Deal of the Week is often reserved for ancient, unwanted DLC, this week’s deal is worth considering. On sale this week for 400
($5) — 50 percent off the regular price — is NinjaBee’s A Kingdom for Keflings. The game tasks your Avatars with building a kingdom for tiny folk known as Keflings. In order to do so, you’ll need to gather the proper materials and make sure that the economy keeps thrumming along. As an added bonus, you can play with up to four players on Xbox Live.
Trust us when we say that A Kingdom for Keflings is pretty addictive. Throw in the recently released DLC — two packs for 160
($2) each — and you’ve got plenty to keep yourself busy for a long time.

JBO: Joystiq Box Office, February 15 – February 19, plus Joyswag!
Feb/100
Recommendation of the Week:
Cory McAbee is one cool character. He’s produced art, music, short films and feature films, and he’s at his best when he’s combining art and movie together. Last year at Sundance, he premiered his newest feature film, Stingray Sam. Set in the future, two interstellar cowboys who just happen to be convicts are given a shot at freedom, if they complete one mission. Along the way they encounter a lot of wacky stuff, and sing some bizarre songs. Songs that will stay with you long after you’ve seen the movie, like the Lullaby Song. It combines science fiction, music, Westerns and pure wacky in a package of pure delight. We have three copies of the Stingray Sam DVD and soundtrack to give away this week, so just read the rules and comment below, letting us know what your name would be if you were an outer space cowboy.
Read on after the break for the rest of our recommendations, and let us know what you’re watching!
