Medal of Honor trailer defines Tier One Operative (in case you were wondering)
Mar/100
The latest trailer for EA’s upcoming reboot of the Medal of Honor series, which debuted this week on GTTV, really goes out of its way to explain exactly the kind of gentlemen you’ll be piloting this summer. These guys are Tier One Operators — “experts in the application of violence.” That seems pretty self-explanatory … but we’ve never been able to turn down a video featuring expertly applied violence. Check it out after the break.

Impressions: Mass Effect 2 DLC – Kasumi’s Stolen Memory
Mar/100
Like some of the best loyalty quests in Mass Effect 2, “Kasumi’s Stolen Memory” is an inventive sub-story that steps away from all the galactic peril just long enough to explore the motives and traits of a newly recruited squad mate. The downloadable add-on introduces Kasumi, a cocky human thief in search of data relating to a former partner (in crime?), and sees Shepard accompanying her on an important and incredibly dangerous two-person mission. You know, a date.
Donning a sleek bit of evening wear and a false identity, Shepard accompanies Kasumi to an exclusive party — the kind that requires either a shiny invitation or a shady conscience. While the commander mingles, a cloaked Kasumi keeps an eye out for the hidden art vault that she believes holds her partner’s grey box. What they eventually find encroaches upon spoiler territory (that’s especially sensitive given the 90-minute length of the mission), but unsurprisingly triggers one of Mass Effect 2’s intense combat sequences.

Fable 2 sold 3.5 million copies, Lionhead ‘needs’ 5 million for Fable 3
Mar/100

Speaking during GDC, Peter Molyneux highlighted Lionhead’s strategy for Fable 3, specifically noting that a franchise will die if it fails to grow. “If we don’t grow as a franchise, If Fable doesn’t get bigger as a franchise,” said Molyneux, “then it will eventually die.” Lionhead is “very happy” with the success of Fable so far, with Molyneux stating that the original Fable sold “about 3 million” copies, while Fable 2 moved approximately 3.5 million.
He added that he hopes that 25-30 percent more people will play Fable 3, explaining Lionhead’s plans to craft Fable 3 as more of an action-adventure title — a genre which tends to perform better than RPGs. The overall goal for Lionhead is to sell more than five million copies of Fable 3. According to Molyneux, Fable 3 needs to sell that many in order to “be part of the big boys, the big blockbusters.”
How will Lionhead rope in that many new customers? Read our full coverage of the Fable 3 GDC panel to find out.

Listen to Over 100,000 Radio Stations in Windows Media Center
Mar/100
A cool feature in Windows 7 Media Center is the ability to listen to local FM radio. But what if you don’t have a tuner card that supports a connected radio antenna? The RadioTime plugin solves the problem by allowing access to thousands of online radio stations.
With the RadioTime plugin for Windows Media Center, you’ll have access to over 100,000 online radio stations from around the world. Their guide is broken down into different categories such as Talk Radio, Music Radio, Sports Radio and more. It’s completely free, but does require registration to save preset stations.
RadioTime
It works with Media Center in XP, Vista, and Windows 7 (which we’re demonstrating here). When installing it for Windows 7, make sure to click the Installer link below the “Get It Now – Free” button as the installer works best for the new OS.
Installation is extremely quick and easy…
Now when you open Windows 7 Media Center you’ll find it located in the Extras category from the main menu.
After you launch it, you’re presented with the RadioTime guide where you can browse through the different categories of stations. Your shown various station suggestions each time you start it up.
The main categories are broken down further so you can find the right genre of the music your looking for.
?
World Radio offers you stations from all over the world categorized into different regions.
RadioTime does support local stations via an FM tuner, but if you don’t have one, you can still access local stations provided they broadcast online. One thing about listening to your local stations online is the audio quality may not be as good as if you had a tuner connected.
It provides information on most of the online stations. For example here we look at Minnesota Public Radio info and you get a schedule of when certain programs are on.
Then get even more information about the topics on the shows.
To use the Presets option you’ll need to log into your RadioTime account, or if you don’t have one just click on the link to create a free one.
?
Creating a free account is simple and basic on their site. You aren’t required to have an account to use the RadioTime plugin, it’s only if you want the additional benefits.

Conclusion
For this article we only tried it with Windows 7 Media Center, and sometimes the interface felt clunky when moving quickly through menus. Also, there isn’t a search feature from within Media Center, however, you can search stations from their site and add them to your presets.
Despite a few shortcomings, this is a very cool way to get access to thousands of online radio stations through Windows Media Center. If you’re looking for a way to access thousands of radio stations through WMC, you might want to give RadioTime a try.

Impressions: Power Gig: Rise of the Sixstring
Mar/100

Can the music genre be revitalized? Can gaming newcomer Seven45 Studios — a combined publisher, developer and hardware manufacturer — sway current fans of Guitar Hero and Rock Band to try yet another music game, and one that focuses only on guitar? The odds are undoubtedly against them.
At the very least, Seven45’s Power Gig: Rise of the Sixstring isn’t destined to become another Rock Revolution. It’s true that Power Gig isn’t fundamentally different from the other band games out there, offering four-player support with guitars, drum and vocals; however, Seven45’s twist is the guitar: a fully-functioning electric guitar with real strings and the ability to create real music.
At first glance, Seven45’s peripheral won’t look very different from a standard guitar. In fact, were it not for the colored labels that run along the side of the instrument, and the Xbox jewel embedded on the face of the guitar, it’d be hard to tell it apart from a proper instrument. When not connected to a game console, it can be strummed with a standard pick (or your hand), and it will even connect to standard guitar amps.

Bodycount confirmed for Xbox 360, PS3; early 2011 release
Mar/100
Taking aim at the “whack-a-mole mechanics” of your typical cover-based shooter, Codemasters is finally ready to take the wraps off Bodycount, the new first-person shooter IP in production at Codemasters Studios Guildford under the direction of Black creator Stuart Black. “Our shredding tech enables us to create a different kind of gameplay, where players and AI can’t hide behind indestructible cover,” says Black. “Here the environment is constantly changing as the game world is shot to hell; it’s going to be a huge amount of fun.”
That huge amount of fun will be built on the EGO Game Technology Platform, an evolution of Codemasters’ EGO Engine, for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The story has something to do with killing ‘Targets’ – those are the bad guys – on behalf of the ‘Network’ – ostensibly the good guys. In addition to a full campaign, Bodycount will feature expected FPS enhancements like online multiplayer and co-op modes.
Codies’ “first internally produced new IP for many years” will be shredding environments in Q1 2011. We’ll let executive producer – and former Sony London director – Tom Gillo have the last comically hyperbolic word on Bodycount: “From the jaw-dropping devastation caused by firing into enemies or shredding the world around you in a hail of bullets, Bodycount will crystalize that moment of pulling the trigger into an exhilarating sensory overload of action.”

Q4 release for Mafia 2 (re)confirmed; Payne, Noire, Civ V still on hit list
Mar/100
Earlier this month, Take-Two announced the potential movement of one of the titles planned for release in its fiscal fourth quarter, extending from August to October. The choices were: LA Noire, Mafia 2, Max Payne 3, or Civilization V. During our demo of Mafia 2 on Wednesday, we were told the game would make its Q4 release, removing it from the list of potentially delayed titles. If we were the betting type, we’d be looking at one of those two Rockstar titles; after all, we’ve seen Civilization V at this point while LA Noire and Max Payne 3 remain shrouded in mystery.
