Climate Change Sets Rural Livelihoods Off Course in Zimbabwe
Feb/100
At a public borehole in Zviyambe, a village in the backyard of Zimbabwe, approximately 250 kilometres away from Harare, the capital city, butterflies, goats, cattle and human beings mix and mingle in edenic fashion all in search of the precious liquid: water. Under a blazing sun, Sekai Mabika (not her real name) and her sister take turns to fill up buckets with water all the while shooing the goats away while the butterflies flutter hither and thither sipping at the water spilled to the ground and the cattle standby for their turn to drink water.

3 News Stories Keeping Some South Africans Out of The Water
Jan/100
Three stories in the press over the last few weeks, have given South African’s unusual concerns about swimming off Cape Town’s beaches, surfing around the estuaries of Eastern Cape Rivers and canoeing in the Umgeni River.
Sharks Around Cape Town Beaches
A Zimbabwean man holidaying in Cape Town was killed, when he was attacked by what is believed to be a great white shark at Fish Hoek beach in Cape Town.
Ninety three shark attacks, 12 fatal, were reported in the Eastern and Western Cape beaches in the last 18 years compared to only 19, with one death, on KwaZulu-Natal’s beaches. The shark nets installed there have reduced attacks by 99%, since the 1960s, when attacks were a frequent occurrence. But nets are not suitable for Cape beaches because of rough seas, the presence of whales and seals and the type of sharks.

Mega Man 10’s Robot Masters revealed
Jan/100

We’ve seen Sheep Man and Commando Man previously, but now we know about Nitro Man, Strike Man (the sports-themed boss whose level was shown at CES), Blade Man (whose head is a blade), Chill Man, Solar Man, and … Pump Man. He has a “water-themed shield weapon,” according to the short blurb accompanying his portrait. (You can see portraits of all eight over on the Mega Man Network.)
And after the break, see Dueling Analogs‘ take on the new Easy Mode, in which the cartoonist does his very best to make you feel ashamed of ever considering it an option.

Cryptic would ‘love’ to get Star Trek Online to consoles
Feb/100
Sure, we’d like a lot of things, too. Could we get a butterscotch waterfall in the backyard and maybe tiny, invisible robo-men with jetpacks to do the dishes for us every night? Or, better yet, could we get a better explanation for Champions Online’s hold-up besides the “blame Microsoft” you said six months ago? But, we digress.
Cryptic’s Craig Zinkievich told CVG that a console port of the com-pooter MMO is something the company is “definitely” interested in. “We would love to get STO to the console. At launch it will just be available for the PC but here at Cryptic we want our games across multiple platforms,” he said.
However, before you break out your good Starfleet duds and crank the jamz up to eleven in celebration, know that should Cryptic pursue a console port, it likely wouldn’t be available for quite some time. Zinkievich puts it this way: “But we’ll have to see how Star Trek does and then secondly we want to do it justice and not hurry something along just to get it on the console.”
