Interview: Aaron Greenberg talks Xbox 1 Live shutdown, hard drives, and Games on Demand
Feb/100

Greenberg remained genial even when faced with familiar questions about the ramifications of the removal of Xbox 1 Live support, and with random, odd questions generated from Joystiq’s interview brainstorming session, such as:
Joystiq: Can you make Kudo in Kodu?
Aaron Greenberg: What?
I don’t know. Don’t worry about it.
Does not compute.

Back of FFXIII box for 360 mentions DLC
Feb/100
It looks like that entire game’s worth of removed content might be making it into Final Fantasy XIII after all. GameStop has posted the box art for the Xbox 360 version of the game and, more importantly, it has also posted the art for the back of the box. As you can see above, the box mentions that Final Fantasy XIII will support downloadable content after all, though there is no mention of what the DLC actually is. It’s worth noting that the content could be something as simple as Avatar outfits or accessories, though it would certainly make sense for Square Enix to supply its most well-known franchise with post-launch DLC.
The news comes after producer Yoshinori Kitase was rumored to have stated that no DLC had been planned for the game, though he noted it was still “possible.” Final Fantasy Union, however, notes that Kitase apparently confirmed DLC during a recent interview with the Dutch Official Playstation Magazine. The box art certainly seems to confirm that, though we’ve reached out to Square for clarification. As of this writing, GameStop has yet to post the art for the back of the PS3 version, so it’s unclear if both platforms will support said content.

Today we’re giving away 5 copies of
Moon on Blu-ray, and to enter you just need to leave us a comment telling us what you’re watching. Doesn’t matter if it’s on your PS3, Xbox 360, PSP, iPhone, PC, Mac, or at the theaters.Recommendation of the Week:
Moon ($37.95 suggested retail, lower at many retailers)I was lucky enough to see this film at Sundance last year, and it blew me away. Duncan Jones has crafted a science fiction movie without laser beams, massive explosions and space aliens that is as gripping and addicting as 2001 or Alien. Sam Rockwell plays astronaut Sam Bell, the only man on the moon harvesting a rare mineral and living a lonely existence. As always happens in sci-fi movies, something goes wrong and shakes Sam’s world up completely. The film looks gorgeous, has an incredible score and a bevy of extras. For an ultimate double-feature, pair this movie with Sunshine, and you have two fantastic sci-fi movies representing orbs in our solar system. We’re also giving away five copies of this, so be sure to comment to be entered in the contest. Sony may (sadly) not be backing this movie for an Oscar, but you’ll love it.
Read on after the break for the rest of our recommendations, and let us know what you’re watching!

Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition
A high-definition update – with high-quality voice work to boot! – of the adventure gaming classic, Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition represents a sea change in how LucasArts treats its adventure gaming roots. Instead of squirelling them away in a vault while development continues on Star Wars title after Star Wars title, LucasArts is putting them up on Steam, and remastering them for a whole new audience, with the first Monkey Island adventure leading the charge.

Q4 release for Mafia 2 (re)confirmed; Payne, Noire, Civ V still on hit list
Mar/100
Earlier this month, Take-Two announced the potential movement of one of the titles planned for release in its fiscal fourth quarter, extending from August to October. The choices were: LA Noire, Mafia 2, Max Payne 3, or Civilization V. During our demo of Mafia 2 on Wednesday, we were told the game would make its Q4 release, removing it from the list of potentially delayed titles. If we were the betting type, we’d be looking at one of those two Rockstar titles; after all, we’ve seen Civilization V at this point while LA Noire and Max Payne 3 remain shrouded in mystery.
