XBLM listing reveals 5 maps, 2 CoD4 remakes in MW2 ‘Stimulus Package’ DLC

We may still be waiting for a the “spring” release of Modern Warfare 2’s first DLC (“Stimulus Package“), but thanks to an early Xbox Live Marketplace listing for the map pack, we aren’t in the dark anymore as to its contents. The blurb reveals the pack will contain “5 additional action-packed maps,” including three all new ones (“Bailout, Storm, and Salvage”) as well as two remakes from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (“Crash” and “Overgrown”).

“Bailout” is said to be “a multi-layered apartment complex,” while “Storm” is described as “an open industrial park littered with heavy machinery,” and “Salvage” is “a snowy junkyard fortified by stacked debris and crushed cars.” Presumably, if you’re reading about the details of unreleased a MW2 map pack, you already knew that “Crash” is a “war-torn urban environment” and “Overgrown” is set in a large dry creek. No pricing or date is set, unfortunately, though you can ogle the XBLM listing for now if it makes you feel any better (though we wouldn’t suggest it).

[Thanks CL4P-TP!]

This Wednesday: Scrap Metal rocks the XBLA Block Party

Slick Entertainment’s top-down racer Scrap Metal continues Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade Block Party promotion this week, Major Nelson reports. It’ll be available this Wednesday for 1200 and almost begs comparison to classic racer-shooter hybrid, Rock N’ Roll Racing — in that, both games have rock and roll and racing. And guns … to be used during the rocking and rolling and racing. It’s like a fruit salad of slaughter and sweet licks, we guess.

Rock Band Weekly: HIM, Marilyn Manson, The Police

Last week, the Rock Band Store got a few healthy slices of Americana with tracks from Otis Redding and the Brian Setzer Orchestra. This week’s offerings are much more foreign — there’s a three-pack from Finnish rock band HIM, a song from Britain’s One Night Only, a track from The Police, and a song from Marilyn Manson, whom we all know actually descends from an extinct alien race whose name our human tongues could never hope to pronounce.

Click past the jump for the full list of new additions!

Darksiders’ free Red Faction promo open to anyone who bought it new, no code required

Got yourself a copy of Darksiders but, for whatever reason (admit it, you lost it), don’t have the slip of paper it came with containing the “mystery code” redeemable for a free copy of Red Faction Guerrilla and digital art book? Seems you’re not out of luck — unless you bought it second-hand (or “pre-played,” if you will).

Vigil has announced via its official Darksiders blog that those without codes, but who purchased the game new can still get the free RFG and disc full o’ artwork. It’s a little more work than simply clicking a link and typing in a code, but, hey, free is free. Those who want in on the promotion must fill out a form, provide “your original purchase receipt of a NEW copy of Darksiders,” the barcode from the cover insert and, like everything else, pay shipping and “handling” (we never quite got what that is, exactly).

You have until March 7 to get in on the promotion, whatever your situation may be.

[Thanks, NBA Kirkland]

Atlus has released a new trailer for the upcoming first-person action XBLA title, Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition. Upping the ante on the first-person fisticuffs seen in previous trailers, the new video shows off some of the new weapons in Ultimate Edition. You’ll get a chance to see some particularly nasty looking hammers — look at the size of the roothammer! — as well as a spear and a shotgun that looks like it was designed by a caveman. And you’re going to want them all, too, especially with all the weird pig-monster-men walking around.

According to the trailer, Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition should land on Xbox Live Arcade on March 31.

Joy Ride slides into 2010, BigPark still tinkering under the hood

At E3 2009, Microsoft confessed to the secret Xbox 360 exclusive that (then newly acquired) BigPark would create: Joy Ride, a free-to-play, Avatar-based racing game. As you might have concluded after it missed its holiday 2009 launch window, Joy Ride has been delayed until later in 2010, though Microsoft wouldn’t share anything more specific.

The full statement to Joystiq reads: “We’re thrilled to have unveiled Joy Ride at E3 2009, which will deliver a revolutionary gaming experience to the Xbox 360 community and put your Avatar behind the wheel. We’re committed to delivering the most robust experience to the community and are taking additional time to ensure we provide the best experience possible. We’re looking forward to launching Joy Ride in 2010. Stay tuned!”

With a slew of upcoming media events leading up to this year’s E3, we’re sure to hear more about the title in the coming months and see how the extra development time has been put to use.

March is going to be a pretty intense month for XBLA releases. So intense, in fact, that it’s all being bundled under one promotional moniker: Block Party. Microsoft recently announced specific dates and prices for each of the games therein, and boy oh boy, has its saved the best for … um, next-to-last.

We already knew March 3 would see the release of Toy Soldiers for 1200 ($15). On March 10, we’ll get our hands on Slick Entertainment’s brutal racer, Scrap Metal, for 1200 ($15). On March 17, we’ll be stocking up on supplies, boarding up the doors and windows, and enjoying Perfect Dark, available for 800 ($10). Things will come to a crescendo on March 24, when the Game Room hub will be released at no charge. The platform’s games will run you 400 ($5) for a PC and 360-friendly version, 240 ($3) for just the 360 version, or 40 ($.50) for a single play.

BioShock 2 debuts atop UK charts, drowns out Just Dance

Mass Effect 2’s reign in the UK has come to an end, with a return trip to Rapture replacing BioWare’s journey across the stars in first place. The latest Chart-Track data shows that Bioshock 2 is now the Big Daddy on the block, besting the hypnotic gyrations of Just Dance, Ubisoft’s successful bust-a-mover. With that in second place, FIFA 10 slid into third.

Bioshock 2, which bested Mass Effect 2’s UK debut numbers, is the first Take-Two title to be in the top spot since 2008, when GTA IV managed to jack its way into first place.
