Impressions: Medal of Honor
Mar/100
It’s impossible to avoid comparisons between EA’s upcoming Medal of Honor reboot and Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare series … so, I’ll just get it out of the way: Medal of Honor unapologetically follows in the footsteps of Call of Duty. In fact, I’m willing to raise the possibility that Medal of Honor could be the “true” sequel to the Call of Duty 4 campaign many of us are still waiting for after suffering through Modern Warfare 2’s increasingly preposterous storyline.
Recently, I got a peak at a new Medal of Honor trailer which lays it out like this: There are two sides to every war: the sledgehammer and the scalpel. What Call of Duty 4 did so well was to portray exactly how these two components work in tandem, as it featured scenarios in which large assaults aided small elite forces, and vice versa. Medal of Honor promises to recreate similar battlefield situations, with the “scalpel” represented by the Tier 1 Operators, an elite branch of SOCOM.

Enhance Your Gmail Account in Chrome
Mar/100
Are you tired of items like the Chat and Invite Boxes cluttering up your Gmail account? Then join us as we look at the Better Gmail extension for Google Chrome.
Before
Here are some examples of items that you may be tired of looking at in your Gmail account such as the “Footer” below your “Inbox”, the “Chat Box”, and the “Invitation Box”.

Perhaps you would also like to have the “New Window, Print all, & Create a document Commands” moved elsewhere. And of course there is everyone’s “favorite” sponsored links… Time to do some cleaning up and reorganizing.

Better Gmail in Action
As soon as you have installed Better Gmail a new tab will automatically open and present you with the available options. Place a “checkmark” in the box for each option that you would like activated and click on “Save” when finished.
Note: The final option entry is a tie-in with two other “linked” extensions (Folders4Gmail & HTML Signature) while the middle listing is a link to an article for disabling Google Buzz.

Once you have saved your changes in the “Options” you will be prompted to refresh your Gmail tab to see the changes.

Going back to our “Inbox Area” everything looks so much more streamlined and clean now. Goodbye clutter!

The “New Window, Print all, & Create a document Commands” definitely look a lot nicer as a small toolbar above our e-mail. And the right side…you can see for yourself just how much better that looks. No more distractions there to bother you as you read your e-mail.

Conclusion
If you have been wanting to get rid of the undesirable elements visible in your Gmail account then hurry over to the Better Gmail page, grab the extension and enjoy the better view.

Tiger Woods 11 to support PlayStation Motion Controller
Mar/100
Much like the star it’s named for, it seems the Tiger Woods PGA Tour franchise isn’t adverse to trying new things. EA has announced that the next iteration, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, will support the PlayStation Motion Controller to “give gamers an authentic interactive swing experience.”
There aren’t any other details about Motion Controller implementation at the moment, but the game is slated for release on June 8 — well before the Motion Controller’s projected fall release. (And before you ask, no mention has been made of support for Microsoft’s Project Natal.)
It may be less flashy, but series fans may be interested to hear the game will also feature the Ryder Cup, allowing for two 12-man teams to face off against each other.
We say 12-man, but we guess it could be 12 women against 12 men, right? Heck, maybe even 12 women against one man. Can you imagine, one guy trying to keep up with all those women? We sure can’t.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 will be available on June 8 for Wii (with MotionPlus support), Xbox 360, PS3 and iPhone.

Want To Lick!: Glacier Bleeds Primordial Ooze
Mar/100

This is a glacier “bleeding” delicious primordial ooze (high-res shot HERE) it picked up a couple million years ago. You all know what that means, don’t you? I’m gonna chug a Big Gulp-full and turn into a ninja turtle!
Roughly 2 million years ago, the Taylor Glacier sealed beneath it a small body of water which contained an ancient community of microbes. Trapped below a thick layer of ice, they have remained there ever since, isolated inside a natural time capsule. Evolving independently of the rest of the living world, these microbes exist without heat, light, or oxygen, and are essentially the definition of “primordial ooze.” The trapped lake has very high salinity and is rich in iron, which gives the waterfall its red color. A fissure in the glacier allows the subglacial lake to flow out, forming the falls without contaminating the ecosystem within.
Interesting. Tell me — you think there’s any dino-juice in there? Haha, what do you mean dinosaurs died out over 65 million years ago?
….THE EARTH’S THAT OLD?!

Thanks to Katie, who agrees we should freeze the stuff and sell it as ice cubes for people who want to morph into other things.

THQ’s Bilson: Research and focus testing will ‘usually destroy’ creativity
Mar/100
During an interview at the 2010 Game Developers Conference, THQ executive VP of Core Games Danny Bilson told Joystiq that market research creates “bland” titles, citing it is not a process his group is willing to utilize for future development. “We don’t do research to find out what people want to play. If you need to do that kind of research you must not be playing games yourself,” Bilson said, noting that research and overusing focus tests can “misguide creative forces.”
According to Bilson, his core group at THQ is ruled by creating “excellent” titles. Put simply, Bilson says he will not ship a game if it’s not “really good” — noting that doing otherwise will make it impossible for him to “sleep at night.” As an example of this process, Bilson noted his decision to push Darksiders from a 2009 release into the early-2010 calendar in order to ensure the game was of high quality. (Darksiders currently holds an average Metacritic rating of 83.)
“Inspiration comes from one place and research and focus testing will usually destroy it. It will usually create ‘bland’ and create something for everyone and really nothing for anyone,” he said, praising the idea that publishers should not ship a game until it’s ready. “If my teams make really good games, in the long run, that’s what people relate to. They’re not buying advertising, they’re not buying Wall Street nonsense. They’re buying what’s on that disc.”
