Are Gorillas Doomed? Is the UN making a huge mistake?

Before I get into this important topic, please read my article on cancer dedicated to someone special to me, each view constitutes a larger donation to cancer research. http://planetsave.com/blog/2009/07/27/help-me-fight-cancer/
Problem
Almost one half of non-human primates are at risk of extinction, and none more so than gorillas. Gorillas are disappearing at an alarming rate, mostly a victim of their surroundings. Political unrest, wars, poachers, miners, and loggers all converging in a perfect storm of brutality and human depravity, killing one of our closest living relatives. Gorilla’s DNA is 98-99% an exact match for human DNA, just barely trailing our closest living relatives (genus Pan, chimpanzees and bonobos). Unfortunately for the gorillas, they occupy a region rich in tin, diamonds, gold and coltan (a rare mineral used to create capacitors for cellphones, games consoles and laptops).

Innovative Community Outreach Programs in Uganda – and a Baby Rhino Named Obama
Jul/090
A unique rhino conservation program in Uganda is helping local communities with an outreach program that recruits for job openings from surrounding villages, teaches job skills, and visits classrooms.
Rhino Fund Uganda is making a difference in the lives of people by integrating local communities with rhino conservation goals and educating them about responsible resource management. Established in 1997 with the objective of reintroducing the Southern White Rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum simum) to Uganda, RFU has created programs to help the community every step of the way. Recently, RFU celebrated the birth of the first rhino born in Uganda after 27 years of regional extinction – and the baby rhino has been named “Obama.”

Pixel Qi’s 3Qi LCD screen sized up with Kindle, CTO sheds light on your questions
Jun/090
Turns out Pixel Qi ’s CTO Mary Lou Jepsen reads Engadget, or at least the posts relevant to her company and her invention, the 3Qi screen. In addition to a side-by-side comparison of the display against the Kindle and a few other devices, in an interview with techvideoblog , she can be seen going through our most recent post and answering some of our readers’ questions, including clearing up what seems to be a pretty big misconception that the screen uses e-ink for being visible in direct sunlight — “it’s standard LCD, just clever design,” she explains

Been thinking about settling down with an XP netbook but can’t get the idea of an Android tablet out of your mind? We understand your pain — and so does Taiwan’s Institute for Information Industry, which is showing off the Mtube II netbook / tablet at Computex . The slick remix of an HP Mini 1000 runs XP when in netbook configuration, but then switches over to Android on an unspecified ARM processor when the screen is pulled off and used as a tablet
