Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition gets full, confusing trailer

Thus far, we’ve really learned only one thing from the trailers released for Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition: You can plan to spend a lot of time in the game pounding very strange looking people in the face. Whether you do so by yourself or with a friend is up to you. Now, thanks to the latest trailer from Atlus, we learn a little bit about the story of Zeno Clash. It seems that the main character kills someone or something known as Father-Mother. We’re not sure what started the dispute — perhaps a forgotten Father-Mother’s Day present — but the end result is a dead tribal leader, banishment and a quest for the truth. You know, that old chestnut.

Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition hits XBLA on March 31.

Tiger Woods 11 to support PlayStation Motion Controller

Much like the star it’s named for, it seems the Tiger Woods PGA Tour franchise isn’t adverse to trying new things. EA has announced that the next iteration, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11, will support the PlayStation Motion Controller to “give gamers an authentic interactive swing experience.”

There aren’t any other details about Motion Controller implementation at the moment, but the game is slated for release on June 8 — well before the Motion Controller’s projected fall release. (And before you ask, no mention has been made of support for Microsoft’s Project Natal.)

It may be less flashy, but series fans may be interested to hear the game will also feature the Ryder Cup, allowing for two 12-man teams to face off against each other.

We say 12-man, but we guess it could be 12 women against 12 men, right? Heck, maybe even 12 women against one man. Can you imagine, one guy trying to keep up with all those women? We sure can’t.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 will be available on June 8 for Wii (with MotionPlus support), Xbox 360, PS3 and iPhone.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior aiming for Xbox 360 & PC in ‘Q2 2010′

First of all, no, there isn’t a better title for an FPS than “Sniper: Ghost Warrior.” That’s just a fact. Second of all, the game’s coming from the makers of such gaming classics as Chicken Riot and I Love Beauty: Hollywood Makeover, so we expect nothing but the best from the just-announced title. Sniper: Ghost Warrior is the first Xbox 360 venture from Poland-based devs City Interactive, an idea the company says was born out of some recent television programming.

“With all-new programming airing nationally on the History Channel and the Military Channel regarding the training of snipers and their missions, interest in the art of sniping has never been greater,” VP of sales Lisa Rivera explains. The game is said to be centered around the assistance of rebels who are trying to overthrow “an aggressive and hostile military command” that has taken over the once-democratic (and fictional) nation of Isla Trueno. A handful of screens were released with the game’s announcement this morning (which we’ve dropped into a gallery below), and if those tickle you pink then it’ll interest you to know that the game’s got a “Q2 2010″ release window.

Xbox Live Deal of the Week: World at War Map Pack for $20

If you’re still knee-deep in the Pacific Theater in Call of Duty: World at War, odds are you’ve at least heard about the various map packs out there by now. Major Nelson reports that Microsoft has cut the price on the CoD: WaW Map Pack – a bundle of the three DLC map packs previously released for the game, available for 1600 this week.

Each map pack is available on its own for 800, though the bundle usually offers a discount by lumping all three DLC packs together for 2000. So, with this weekly deal, getting all three map packs together will save you $10 total over the cost of buying them all individually — or $5 over the usual cost of the bundle. However, there’s a good chance that everyone who owns an Xbox 360 already has these maps, so check your hard drive before enlisting for duty!

Amazon’s galactic deal of the day: Mass Effect 2

BioWare’s space opera epic, Mass Effect 2, is Amazon’s “Deal of the Day.” The Xbox 360 version is currently $40, which is $10 cheaper than you’d pick it up at your local Quarian pawn shop. A PC copy is 40 percent off, with a $30 price tag.

At that price, one could pick up Mass Effect 1 and 2 for the regular retail price of the sequel. For those who like their sci-fi soapy and their shooters refined, this is a deal worth going through the Omega 4 Relay for — see, if you play the game, you’ll know what that means.

[Thanks, Russ P!]

Final Fantasy XIII deals to pounce on at Target and Amazon

After you heard what we had to say about Final Fantasy XIII, you may very well now be itching to finally get your own hands all over the thirteenth entry in the FF series from Square Enix. Lucky for you, dearest reader, we’ve got news of a couple ways to save some dough on your purchase this week.

Target
is offering a $10 gift card with purchase of either the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 version, while Amazon is offering a $10 pre-order incentive credit towards future video game purchases for both versions as well (oh, and also, the game costs $56.99 instead of $59.99, which is kinda nice). Sure, neither offers a free rideable chocobo or anything wonderful like that, but that $10 at Target could potentially buy pizza bagels. And did you know that when pizza’s on a bagel, you can apparently eat pizza at any time? Madness!

April OXM features Fallout: New Vegas, Halo: Reach

The small, irradiated pool of Fallout: New Vegas knowledge is about to get bigger. Bethesda has announced that the April issue of Official Xbox Magazine — set to hit newsstands next week — will devote its cover story to the game. Readers can expect an eight-page spread on New Vegas and, as a bonus, the included DVD will also feature some exclusive gamer pics (what, no Avatar items?).

Sharp-eyed readers will notice that the magazine has an eight-page feature on Halo: Reach as well. All in all, probably something Xbox gamers should keep an eye on.

Joe Danger stirs up trouble on PSN, doesn’t rule out other platforms

IGF-nominated indie start-up Hello Games just dished out a press release stating its upcoming title, Joe Danger, is headed to PSN. Of course, we thought it would, but it’s just nice to finally have that official confirmation, you know? You really can’t put a price on piece of mind. You also can’t put a price on this game — at least, for right now.

Joe Danger will be available for download this spring, initially exclusive to PSN as part of Pub Fund. But, that “doesn’t mean we won’t ever come to any other platforms,” a Hello Games spokesperson told Joystiq. The rep also added that “coming to console is really hard sometimes and until recently it looked like Joe Danger might never get a console release. Since we announced, and especially since the IGF, a whole bunch of people have helped us and Sony was definitely one of them.”

Crysis 2 screenshots look gorgeous (from a certain perspective)

Take a moment just to look at the first official Crysis 2 screenshots released by EA. Yep, stunning, aren’t they? Unfortunately, they’re not indicative of actual gameplay, considering the upcoming multiplatform title is a first-person shooter, not third.

Still, we can’t help but admire the incredible graphical fidelity of these screens. Most likely, these shots were taken from the PC version of the game, but we’ll have a full report on the console versions of the game in April. Until then, feel free to spend some quality time in our gallery.

ESRB rates ‘Tecmo Bowl Throwback’ for PSN and XBLA

It seems that, once again, our anonymous tipster was right on the money. The ESRB recently rated Tecmo Bowl Throwback for the PSN and XBLA platforms, describing it as a “top-down arcade-style football game in which players compete against teams around the country to become the ‘Tecmo Bowl Champion.’” Though the game earned an “E” rating, the listing mentions “cheerleaders wearing low-cut tops” and “a 2D swimsuit model with some exposed cleavage.” How positively scandalous!

Surprisingly, the ESRB listing doesn’t mention a twelve-foot-tall, cybernetic Bo Jackson who causes every player who thinks about tackling him to explode in a fountain of gore. So, we’re guessing that feature isn’t getting ported over from the original game.
