Friday Fun: Blosics 2
Feb/100
You’ve suffered through the work week long enough and it’s time to chill out and play a flash game on company time. Today we take a look at Blosics 2 which is a fun and challenging physics game.
Blosics 2
When you start out you’re shown the object of the game. Select different size balls to knock blocks down. Just use your mouse to position the direction to shoot the ball and the level of force behind it.
Each ball costs money and as you progress levels it gets more challenging. In this example you can’t knock the red bricks down, only the green. You loose points when the red blocks fall off.
Sometimes it’s necessary to knock a red brick down to get to the green ones, but be careful and only knock down the minimum amount you need.
Different objects with various properties are introduced as you progress in levels as well.
You can restart a level at any time and can go back and play previous ones to up your score.
Blosics 2 is a fun and challenging game that will keep you amused until the company lets you regain your freedom.

Common but Lethal Soil Fungus Becoming Resistant to Antibiotics
Jan/100
Aspergillus fumigatus – a common but sometimes lethal soil fungus
Aspergillus fumigatus is a fungus found commonly in ordinary garden soil. When the spores of the fungus are inhaled, It can also cause disease–sometimes fatally in those with already compromised immune systems and respiratory disease such as COPD. Doctors who treat the illness have long-recognized that in some patients, the fungus is resistant to standard treatment with chemicals called azoles. The problem becomes potentially worse as azoles are also heavily used as farm fungicides. A team of Dutch researchers (Verweij and Kema), reporting in last December’s edition of the medical journal The Lancet Infectious Diseases suggest that over-use of the farm fungicide may be contributing to the growing resistance of this fungus to the disease-fighting chemicals.

Breeding Location Discovered for the World’s Rarest Bird, the Warbler
Jan/100
The large-billed reed Warbler is a bird species that is thought to thrive in significant numbers, but it’s also one that’s very rarely spotted, with it’s last known recorded sighting taking place in 2006. Some researchers have indicated that perhaps the reed Warbler is spotted more often than some realize, because it’s often mistaken for other birds, but nonetheless, it does manage to allude scientists and bird-watchers alike.

Monday Night Combat announced for XBLA
Jan/100
The game sports six different character classes, a create-a-class feature and two gameplay modes, the co-operative Blitz mode and the competitive Crossfire mode. This one really came out of nowhere, but if it’s anywhere near as good as the trailer makes it out to be, we could be in for a real treat. Expect it to arrive later this year.

Monitor the Weather for Your Location in Chrome
Jan/100
Want a quick and simple way to monitor the weather for your location in Google Chrome? See how easy it can be as we take a look at the Weather Forecast extension.
Add Weather Forecast to Chrome
During installation you will be asked to confirm that you want to add the extension to Chrome…click “Install” to finish the process.

Once the extension is installed you will see your new “Weather Forecast Toolbar Button” and a short extension management message. Notice that at the moment the “Toolbar Button” only displays “question marks”…this is due to no location being specified in the options yet.

The only way to access the options for the extension is through the “Chrome Extensions Page”…

The options are very easy to take care of…all that you need to do is enter your location (name or postal code) and decide if you would like to have the temperature displayed in “Celsius Degrees” or not.

Click “Save” when you are finished. Now you are ready to start enjoying that weather forecast goodness.

There are two ways that you can get additional information from the “Toolbar Button”. The first is to hover your mouse over it to see the “Current Weather Conditions”…

And the second is by clicking on the “Toolbar Button” itself to see the “Four Day Forecast” in addition to the “Current Conditions”. Quick, simple, and very convenient.

Conclusion
If you have been looking for an easy “no-fuss” way to monitor the weather in Chrome, then you will definitely want to take a look at this extension.
